Douglas L. Sporn

Until retiring last month Doug Sporn was Divisional Vice President for Regulatory Intelligence and head of the FDA Liaison Office for Abbott’s Global Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs Office. Prior to joining Abbott in 2000, Doug spent over 30 years with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in a variety of senior positions.

His experience with Abbott included addressing major regulatory issues associated with Abbott’s pharmaceutical business. He also worked with pharmaceutical trade associations and FDA to help develop meaningful regulatory policies and improve the efficiency of the drug development in the US.

At FDA Doug served the Director of FDA’s Office of Generic Drugs as well as Deputy Director of the Office of Pharmaceutical Science. He also served as head of FDA’s Strategic Planning Staff in the Office of the Commissioner and advisor to the World Health Association (WHO) on the evaluation of food safety programs.
